Walks

  • Itineraries

  • Can I go on another route?

The list of possible walks is described on this site. Certain areas or passages are impassable with a donkey and you can easily get lost in the Danay massif. If you want a personalized itinerary or over 2 days..., contact us to study the hiking possibilities together.
  • Level of walks

You must choose your walk according to your walking level, the composition of your group and the age of the participants. We are at your disposal by telephone to help you prepare your walk according to your expectations. All the walks offered take place on paths or trails accessible to families. However, we do not recommend going on walks lasting more than 4 hours with children under 3 years old. Be careful if you have health problems or (and) are an elderly person, you need a minimum of firmness to lead an animal .
  • How to equip yourself

Don't forget about light rain gear and adequate hiking shoes with which you have already walked. Don't forget caps and sunscreen. A small emergency pharmacy (antiseptic, dressings, aspirin or doliprane child, ...) is always practical...And of course water, something to snack on or a picnic.

    RESPECT AND SAFETY

Animals

  • Driving your pet

Before your departure, an explanation on the conduct of the animal and the safety instructions will be given to you. Throughout the course, you will hold the animal on a lead and you will walk in front of it. He will accompany you without difficulty but you must not give in to all his desires to stroll along the way otherwise the walk could be longer than expected! If you are going for the day or to a shelter, you must learn to ride your donkey. It's easy to learn if you follow the advice given to you.
  • Equipment for your pet

When you leave with an animal we provide you with:

  • Can children ride the donkey or pony?

Children can ride donkeys and ponies under the responsibility of their parents. We provide a helmet for the little ones and a bomb for the older ones. The maximum weight of the child is 40 kg on the 15' course and 30 kg on other rentals depending on the availability of the animals. For the youngest children, we recommend that you be 2 adults to drive the animal and supervise the child. The llamas carry the bags and the snack (Maxi 20 kg)
  • Water, food and night

Due to the summer heat and the lack of water on the routes, we limit walks with the ponies to 1h30 and only on the goat farm walk and the lake walk. The animals sleep in the open air in the fields set up around the golf des Confins. The donkey, due to its origin (arid and semi-desert countries) tolerates the heat very well and only drinks 10 liters of water per day and generally when it returns to its meadow. If you go to refuge or for a night under the stars, a park is set up for the donkey or a night tether is provided to you at the start of your hike.
  • The big ears...

    Big ears: some advice...

  • All about llamas

Gentle, sensitive and distinguished, the llama moves at the children's rhythm without ever jostling them. Very comfortable on mountain paths, he is not trained to carry children, however, he takes care of bags and picnics (maximum 20 kg).

  • Can I bring my dog?

In terms of regulations, your dog can accompany you for a walk, but take care to tie him up. After a period of adaptation and mutual observation, he will live with the donkeys and ponies. It is preferable that another person holds from a distance the dog on a leash.

Other questions

  • Reservation

For walks longer than 15', it is advisable to reserve your animal the day before your arrival or a few days in advance.

  • Assurance

The activity we offer is above all hiking with animals. Renting animals is not equivalent to horse riding, it involves carrying your belongings. Please note in particular that carrying a child on the back of the animal is done under your entire responsibility. . In this case, the donkey or pony must always be tethered by an adult and the child must wear a helmet or bomb. In addition, article 1385 of the civil code specifies that "the owner of a animal, or the person who uses it, while it is in his use, is responsible for the damage that the animal has caused, whether the animal was in his care, or whether it was lost or escaped. In addition to our professional civil liability, you must therefore have “personal, accident and general civil liability” insurance. Ask your insurer for an extension for pets: animals while hiking.
